We had a wonderful response to our contest to Name the Nestlings. Overwhelmingly, one set of names rose to the top, receiving a total of 351 votes from a total of 529 submittals by AEF members. NE18’s new name is Sky, and NE19’s new name is Spirit!

On September 20, 2017, Bald Eagle Challenger and AEF staff traveled to Springfield, MO to help celebrate the opening of Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium
In his 11th appearance at a World Series game, Bald Eagle Challenger rocked the house with a perfect flight during the National Anthem.
The American Eagle Foundation’s trained non-releasable bald eagle “Challenger” will free-fly during the presentation of the Star Spangled Banner right before Game 3 of the World Series on Friday evening (Oct. 27, 2017) between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX.

‘Spirit’ has a new home. At the American Eagle Foundation, Spirit had very limited opportunities to educate and interact with the public, as she was a “gloves only” eagle. It was determined that the Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky would be a perfect fit for Spirit, where she can be an excellent glove educational ambassador.
The 2017 “So The World May Hear” Starkey Gala set a record attendance, and once again, the AEF and Bald Eagle Mr. Lincoln played an important part.
On July 25, 2017, the American Eagle Foundation released an eaglet in honor of a very special young man named Garrett Reece Barnett. He was born on September 11, 1992 in Gatlinburg, TN, and passed away on July 23, 2016, at the age of 23.
The 2017 Chatter Reunion and celebration of American Eagle Day was filled with adventure, good times, good food, a fantastic auction & dinner, and an education experience that will be remembered for years to come!
On June 20th, 2017, the American Eagle Foundation, along with the United States Congress and Governors coast to coast, invite U.S. citizens to celebrate “American Eagle Day” by remembering the Bald Eagle’s dramatic comeback, reflecting on its special symbolism, and conducting educational activities and ceremonies.
