Hope Fledges!

Hope has been entertaining all her fans with amazing acrobatics in the nest, jumping and prancing, branching higher and higher—sometimes even vanishing out of cam view — perfecting balancing skills, and then navigating her way back down safely to the nest.

On the morning of March 2, at 8:35 a.m. EST, Hope became the youngest eaglet in the history of this nest (10 weeks, 2 days) to fly away and begin a new chapter in her life as a mighty eagle! Hope has fledged!

Glenn Gouldey and Tatine Rehm searched for Hope following her fledge, with Glenn following the noisy crows until he spotted Hope safely perched in a tree in the woods.

The first (16 minutes) shows a variety of skills that Hope mastered before that first flight. The second is a combination of video taken from cam 1 and cam 3 showing the fledge itself, and then the tree that Hope landed in after the fledge.

However, it was not until March 10th that Hope was seen again. On that day, Hope followed Romeo all the way to the nest, but stopped short of actually flying into the nest.  Hope got very close – then backed off as if she wasn’t quite ready to navigate the entry.
