Country
Music Industry Helps "Save America's Eagles"
The country
music industry has always been generous to the American Eagle Foundation
(AEF) in contributing time, talent and money. In February of 1995 that
generosity was extraordinary. Nashville opened its doors and hearts
to help produce a "Save The Eagle" theme song recording and
music video for the AEF that aids the preservation of our National
Symbol, the Bald Eagle.
Some of the country music stars that participated were Ricky Skaggs, Lee Greenwood,
Tanya Tucker, Deana Carter, Terri Clark, William Lee Golden, Johnny Lee, The
Four Guys, Ricky Lynn Gregg, Bryan Austin, Robert Ellis Oral, Joy Lynn White,
Deborah Allen and James Rogers.
The resulting audio recording and music video debuted on the June 20th edition
of The Nashville Network's Music City Tonight TV show, hosted by Crook and
Chase. The entire show that night was dedicated to the Bald Eagle and its protection.
That same summer, the song and video also aired on country music television
and radio stations throughout the U.S.A. Funds raised from the sale and broadcast
of the "Save The Eagle" audio recording and music video are placed in an AEF
endowment fund for support of state, federal and private eagle restoration
and protection efforts.
The "Save the Eagle" song was composed by entertainer/songwriter James
Rogers at the request of AEF Founder Al Cecere. James, an AEF board member
and resident performing star at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN, donated 100%
of the song copyright and proceeds from CD and music video sales to the AEF.
Al Cecere traveled to Nashville in January of 1995, and rallied the donated
support and participation of numerous recording artists, technicians, attorneys,
record labels, production companies and other record industry leaders to produce
the audio recording and music video. The "Save The Eagle" CD and video can
both be purchased to assist the AEF and the eagle protection cause. (See American
Eagle Gifts page or call 1-800-2EAGLES)
Other country music artists, such as Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, Ricky
Skaggs, Clink Black, Garth Brooks, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Vince Gill,
Travis Tritt, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Lari White, Radney Foster and
Marty Stuart and many others have supported the AEF by participating
in the production of "Save The Eagle" Public
Service Announcements for radio and television. These PSAs have aired on Country
Music Television, The Nashville Network, Discovery Channel's "Animal Planet",
Armed Forces Radio/TV, and country music radio stations across the U.S.A.
