Item # po_005 ABOUT THE ART The bald eagles were designed to evoke a regal quality, while also maintaining their strong protective nature. Essentially, they can be viewed as the guardians of the patriotic spirit. The stars and stripes in the artwork represent the American
flag and patriotic swags. The central shape in the image is abstract
and
therefore can be interpreted in many different ways. Essentially,
the organic shape represents man's connection with
God, nature and
his country. On another level, some observers have suggested that "Divine Glory #1" is an open-edition art poster and is printed on acid-free paper. It is a replica of an original acrylic and gouache painting. Specially mixed inks were used on the print to achieve true color accuracy. One of the highlights of the poster is the metallic gold ink. When positioned under direct lighting, the gold imagery glows and takes on a sculptural quality. ARTIST AUTOBIOGRAPHY Marilyn Michelangelo is a professional artist who is
currently residing in Montreal. Born and raised on the west coast of
Canada,
on Vancouver Island, Marilyn was strongly influenced by the close
proximity of the US. From her home she looked out onto
Mt. Baker and the American San Juan Islands. She traveled frequently
to Washington state and enjoyed the different cultural setting. For
her, the US always projected a strong sense of national identity and Marilyn began her creative career as a jewelry artist, working in sculptural jewelry. Her previous training in this area is carried over into her paintings, merging elements of art with design. Her technique also draws on her passion for architecture, evidenced by the strong structural layout and lines that are the foundation of each art piece. Her signature style is both unique and immediately recognizable. In 2006, Marilyn was inspired to create a collection of patriotic paintings. The series, entitled "Divine Glory" highlights the bald eagle as one of the most celebrated symbols of America's national strength.
